Gate System
There is a magical gate network widely used on Apraxia. These gates are magically interconnected and allow for quick travel between them. They generally take the form of large stone circles with a number of glyphs on them that when touched in a specific order form an address of a connected gate. Once a valid address has been entered by touching the runes in a valid order the runes are magically drawn on the hand (or other valid part if no hands are present) and will remain there for generally a few minutes or until the person walks through the gate.
When walking through the gate it will scan the person for the runic address, then cast a greater teleportation spell on them with the destination gate as the set coordinates. The gate removes the runes from the person before teleportation, and the magic is sophisticated and advanced enough to not allow any error. If there is not a valid address, or something on the other end would prevent teleportation, the teleport will simply be aborted.
Large cities like Aeston employ Gates for intra-city transport. These are generally only two or three runes, but in the case of Aeston they are all in Common and generally you only need key in the name of the District. These city gates do not allow for teleportation outside of the city or to any other gates on the network, they can only be used for transport within the city and are marked as such.
Full gates all have an address, generally which have its runic address on the gate itself. If you've been to a gate, you can generally just write down the symbols and you can return to the same gate at a later time. Aeston has a strict policy about external gating, and only the Military is allowed using them. The exception to this rule of course are that generally any members of a Guild are free to move around using the gate system as they please.
The Gate system is managed and under the jurisdiction of the Wayfarers Guild.
